ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS OF JOURNALISM WORKSHOP - An English Language Fellow-Fulrbight collaboration sponsored by the US Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia
In May-June 2016 I found myself in Bratislava co-leading two days of intensive workshops with Fulbright Scholar Robert Kochersberger for fifteen university lecturers teaching English and journalism at institutions throughout Slovakia. This series of workshops was developed in partnership with the US embassy’s Media Coordinator as a way to provide training in student-centered teaching methods and best practices in journalism.
Four of the 90min workshops focused on flipping classrooms, peer-to-peer teaching, and educational technology. These hands-on, interactive session gave participants a crash course in student-centered teaching and demonstrated a strong partnership between the US embassy in Slovakia, the Fulbright program, and institutions of of higher education throughout Slovakia.
